Can I attend the programme even if I do not speak any Arabic?

Of course. CBL International programmes are English-speaking programmes, with lectures and cultural introductions given in English. As part of the programme, an Arabic beginner’s course will give an introduction into the Arabic language.

Do I need a visa to travel to Dubai/UAE?

Delegates are responsible for finding out the necessary visa requirements for their nationality. We recommend delegates to complete visa applications as soon as possible once CBL International has accepted their application as unsuccessful visa applications are not grounds for programme refunds.

How do I get to Dubai?

Getting to Dubai is easy as all major airlines fly to Dubai. Emirates Airlines is the national airline of Dubai, providing affordable flights from many destinations worldwide. Dubai international airport is well connected to downtown Dubai by taxi, buses and – since 2009 – metro. Most taxi drivers in Dubai do speak English.

CBL International Schools in Dubai are organised by CBL International Management Ltd., Hong Kong in cooperation with Higher Colleges of Technology and The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management. Founded in 1988 by Federal Decree the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is the largest higher educational institution in the UAE with approximately 20,000 students attend 17 modern, technology-enhanced men’s and women’s campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Fujairah, Madinat Zayed, Ras Al Khaimah, Ruwais and Sharjah. What is the relationship between CBL International and Higher Colleges of Technology and the Emirate Academy of Hospitality Management?

CBL International Schools in Dubai are organised by CBL International Management Ltd., Hong Kong in cooperation with Higher Colleges of Technology and The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management. Our partner institutions provide the venue and select faculty members to provide delegates with a taste of studying in Dubai.

How do I apply?

The easiest way to apply is by completing an online application form. Once we have received your application and it has been accepted we will send you confirmation via email.
Delegates receive a special discounted price for each additional extension as well as accommodation for any additional nights between transfers.

How long have CBL International Programmes been running for?

This is the 10th year that CBL International is offering international study abroad programmes. We have offered programmes inChina, Dubai, Oxford, Australia, India, and most recently in the USA. More than 5,000 delegates from more than 90 different nationalities have participated in CBL International programmes so far. Always affiliated with local universities, our programmes provide an in-depth view into the cultural, business, and legal environment of each unique location.

Will there be mandatory examinations as part of CBL International Programmes?

Yes, as part of all CBL International Schools there are mandatory assessments. Please refer to the schedule to find out more details. At each location the exam style is different, and the results will be recorded on your academic transcript.

Do I receive a certificate for the participation in CBL International Programmes?

Yes, CBL International staff will present you with a participation certificate at the end of the programme. This presupposes that 90% of all lectures, activities, site visits, and any other compulsory events were in fact attended. Additionally, an Academic Transcript will be handed out showing the result(s) of the exam(s). This Academic Transcript may be used for receiving credits at the home university.

Is previous knowledge necessary for taking part in CBL International Schools?

For attending any courses, it is beneficial to have some background knowledge of the subject, as this will aid you in contributing to class discussions. For those who have little or no prior knowledge, lectures may be more challenging however the contents of the different modules and lectures cover a wide range of topics, and are designed to engage the participant.

Who can participate in CBL International Schools?

CBL International Schools are programmes specifically designed for participants with a strong interest in international business and international law affairs. Undergraduate and graduate students up to age of 25 can take part, as well as students 26+ or postgraduate students and professionals.

Are scholarships available?

CBL International offers delegates 3 scholarship options. The first is our “Photography Scholarship” for any budding photographers. Throughout your programme you will need to submit at least 500 good quality photos per week which we can use for our websites, social media, picture galleries etc. The successful applicant will receive a 100USD discount off their programme.

The second option is our “Blogging Scholarship”. You will write a student blog every day of your programme to share your experiences in Dubai. For these entries, you will receive 100USD at the end of your programme.

Finally, for those who enjoy making videos, the ‘Video Scholarship is a great way for future participants to see the programme through a delegate’s eyes. As this requires editing, and more time to complete, the successful applicant will receive 200USD. Are accommodation and meals included in the tuition fees?

Tuition fees include all lectures, presentations, company visits, course materials, and cultural activities. Delegates aged 25 and under have the option of a double room for 980USD per session or a single room for 1,700USD per session. Delegates aged 26 and over have the single room option for 1,700USD per session. Dubai Programmes do not offer a meal plan, but the schedule will always allow time for lunch and dinner.

What is the workload of a CBL International School and how many credits can I get for it?

The workload of CBL International schools is equivalent to 2 ECTS/ 1 U.S. credits per week. Credits have to be granted by each participant’s home university. We encourage participants to contact the study-abroad office in advance to learn about the regulations and rules applicable.

What nationality are CBL International delegates?

CBL International Schools give you a truly international experience. Depending on vacation times in different regions, some nationalities may be over-represented at our schools. Will the programme content be exactly the way it is shown on the website at the moment?

CBL International organises its programmes more than 6 months in advance, which means that changes for various unforeseeable reasons may occur. Although we work hard to deliver each single course as announced, we inform our delegates that adjustments, cancellations, and alterations to parts of the programme can happen.

What kind of clothes should I bring to Dubai?

Dubai is a Muslim country therefore delegates should observe local customs and traditions. Shoulders and knees should be covered when out in public and revealing or tight-fitting clothing should be avoided. Although temperatures in Dubai are hot during the summer months, air conditioning is used in all buildings and transport therefore we recommend delegates to bring a jumper or light jacket. During December, you will experience pleasant temperatures of between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
